Economic development of blighted neighborhoods with a specific emphasis on the following
business development through training workshops and addressing collective and individual issues enabling neighborhood renaissance - low crime, better schools,

Why are you (the applicant) the most capable Chapter or individual to address this need?
I have the technical expertise to set up an Extranet, instructional design training to run relevant workshops, and economic development experience. Masters in Library
Science/Media Specialist. Worked in Environmental Protection Agency, City of Richmond, Department of Economic Development, and taught IT classes at ITT
Technical Institute.

Set up Extranet
Engage Economic Development entities to identify blighted neighborhoods and businesses
Engage architects and designers to develop virtual demo projects (how it could be)
Engage economic developers to use their expertise to host discussion and suggest solutions
Develop training programs
Publicize and market the Extranet
18 Objectives
Along with the goals outlined in the Project summary, detail the specific objectives of the project. Remember objectives should be S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable,
Attainable, Realistic and Time-sensitive).
Provide the resources to enable the improvement of blighted neighborhoods
To develop projects plans for 100 neighborhoods worldwide within six months ( How it could be Vision Workshops)
To designate improvement for 10 current and addition of 10 new businesses within the selected 100 neighborhoods
Plans are to be implemented within one year.
19 Method
Describe how you will achieve the Project objectives (strategy, methodology, scope and boundaries, evaluation…)
Through "how it could be" design projects enable neighborhoods to see online, modify and vote on the vision for 100 selected demonstration neighborhoods
worldwide.
Alliances which enable implementation of vision.
Recognition for completion, decrease of crime, improved income from current neighborhood business, influx of 10 new businesses resulting in new employment
opportunities. Blight must be eliminated within a 5-10 block radius on both sides of the street.

Indicate any specific technologies the project is planning to adopt and why.
I plan to purchase a dedicated computer with Extranet software designed to accomodate discussion,
workshops and collaboration from users worldwide.
21 Risk Analysis/Project Constrains

List factors that could affect the project roll-out and detail the measures you will take to prevent/manage them.
I think the project constraints will be political and neighborhood leaders fearful of change. I hope the "how it could be" with neighborhood participation/input will
diminish unfavorable responses to change.

June - Purchase hardware/software - Extranet and configure
July - contact 100 economic development entities - invite to online workshop
August September solicit assistance from architects/designers/economic developers to submit online design plan, blight reduction/elimination for designated area in
their city.

Group solicits/raises any funds to enable project implementation
September through June 2014 neighborhoods implement.

Economic Development Organizations and or neighborhood organizations will post weekly reports and videos. The reports detail decrease in crime, elimination of
blight on both sides of a street with in a 5 t 10 block radius
25 Outputs & Dissemination Plan

State what the project will deliver and how the results/information will be shared with stakeholders and the community
The project will deliver more desirable neighborhoods and the results are posted to the Extranet in the form of the original design, project closing report, lessons
learned, plans for the future, videos, photos and demonstrations.
26 Sustainability
Describe how the project will continue after ISOC’s funds are done. List the potential project results that might be taken forward, how will you find further financial
support to make them sustainable in the long term.
Further financial support will come from economic development organizations, civic organizations, persons who want to live and invest in businesses in the
neighborhood.

Internet Society funds up to a maximum of US $10,000 per project award.
The Internet Society will not fund the entire cost of the Project. At least 25% of the amount you are requesting from ISOC must be contributed from other
sources.
At least ONE letter of support must be uploaded to your application, otherwise your application will not be considered.
Any support for your project that is more than US$500 should be validated with a support letter.

Budget Narrative
The funds will be used to purchase a dedicated computer to download and configure Extranet software. Other funds will be used for professional services
